In 2010, Liberia was so poor that debtor countries permanently eliminated $5 billion of debt that was owing. Though the local economy has been growing at a fast pace in the past two years, it has been mostly due to rich natural resources and high commodity prices. Eighty-five per cent of the country's labour force cannot find steady employment. |
