The Osun State Command of the Amotekun Corps has made a significant breakthrough with the arrest of a 51-year-old man, Adegoroye Akinola, over allegations of defrauding nine individuals to the tune of N1.5 million.

According to a statement released by the Command's Public Relations Officer, Idowu Yusuff, the suspect, a native of Igbara Odo in Ekiti State, was apprehended for purportedly deceiving victims under the guise of facilitating C.A.C registration and International Passport processing.

Yusuff highlighted that the arrest was made following a complaint lodged at the Amotekun Ayedaade Command in Gbongan, prompting immediate action by operatives. Despite the suspect's attempts to evade capture by fleeing from Ibadan to Igbara Odo, Ekiti State, the Amotekun team managed to track him down.

The suspect's constant alteration of contact numbers presented a challenge, but through meticulous technical analysis, the Amotekun operatives pinpointed his location in Igbara Odo.

The breakthrough in the case came with a crucial tip-off from the suspect's girlfriend, who cooperated with authorities by inviting him to Gbongan under the guise of a business proposition, leading to his subsequent arrest.

Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), the Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, confirmed that the suspect has been handed over to the Oyo State Command of the Corps for further investigation and legal proceedings.
