Bob Marley documentary to air on Facebook

On April 20, 2012, Bob Marley fans will be able to click over to the popular social site facebook to watch a documentary of the king of reggae music in a film titled ‘Marley’,directed by Kevin Macdonald.

The viewing, on the same day the film hits theatres, is scheduled to start at exactly 12:01am on April 20, 2012 on Marley’s facebook page.Viewing the film on facebook will cost $6.99 (N1,099) via PayPal or Credit card, part of which will be donated to the charity ‘save the children’.

For this premiere, which is the first to run on a social blog and theatre at the same time, facebook users will be able to use social entertainment company Milyoni’s technology to chat with friends while watching, and will also be able to tag and share clips.

Bob Marley, who died on May 11, 1981 was a Jamaican singer and songwriter, regarded by many as the voice of the Jamaican people..

His best known tracks include Redemption song, Buffalo soldier, No woman, No cry, One love and more.

His compilation album Legend, released in 1984, three years after his death, still remains reggae’s best selling album, with over 25 million copies sold worldwide
