Radical Political Activist and Chairman of United Action for Democracy, Comrade Ayodeji Ayayeoba popularly known as Jaye Gaskia was this morning picked by men suspected to be operatives of the State Security Service (SSS). This sudden development may not be unconnected with the planned Nationwide protest against corruption scheduled to
 
hold tomorrow and Tuesday. 

Details of the arrest remain sketchy however, but a brief statement  released a couple of hours ago by Mr. Abdul Mahmud Esq, President, Public Interest Lawyers League (PILL) confirmed the arrest by without vivid details.

 

Following the amazing stench of corruption oozing out of the various probes going on in the country, a coalition of Civil Liberty Organisations (CLO) under the aegis of United Action for Democracy (UAD), and the joint Action Front (JAF) has concluded plans to take their grievances to the streets in protest against corruption.
 
The event which is to hold between April 23rd and 24th is expected to be graced by several key players in Nigerian activism and anti- corruption crusade.
 
Briefing Newsmen in Abuja on developments so far, convener of the protest, Comrade Jaye Gaskiya had earlier told journalists the move is geared towards compelling the Federal Government of Nigeria to prosecute all those found wanting in the recently concluded investigation by the House of Representative over the fraudulent management of the fuel subsidy funds, the Pension scams and the capital market imbroglio.
 
Gaskiya said the group is also demanding among others, the immediate implementation of the Civil Service reforms as well as putting to a halt the prevailing culture of impunity in the Country.
 
The Group also vehemently rejected and vowed to resist any sinister move by the Federal Government to increase the pump price of petro above the current  Ninety-seven Naira a litre.
