Speaking at the Ojukwu family compound in Nnewi, Commander of the Biafran War Veterans, Ogbaru Division, Col. Bernard Ndu (retd), appealed to the wife of the late Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, Bianca to assist them with the release of the voted funds.
Ndu, who briefed Daily Sun in company with the Commander of Sector Commanders, Lt. Nelson Ekenwa and other veteran executives, also stated that one of the major aims of the visit was to congratulate Mrs Bianca Ojukwu on her appointment as the new Nigerian Ambassador to Spain.
According to him: “We the Biafran veterans of Ogbaru Division, wish to congratulate Her Excellency, Chief Bianca Ojukwu, the Anyanwu-ututu of Igboland, on her recent elevation as the ambassador to Spain. We want to tell her that she has our continued support wherever she goes. We will never allow the vision and aspirations of our master, the Ikemba to go in vain. We will move on, until his dreams are achieved.
“We also plead with her to remind the Federal Government of the N1.5 billion payment mapped out for all the Biafran war veterans, shortly before the Dim Gburugburu took ill. Likewise, we are currently waiting for her summons to Enugu, which we hope will happen soon before she leaves the country for her national assignment.”
Furthermore, Ndu, who said members of his division and other healthy veterans were not beneficiaries to the war veterans’ home to be commissioned soon, pointed out that the home was solely built to accommodate and rehabilitate veterans who were wounded during the war.
