NO fewer than 10 persons lost their lives on the Abuja-Lokoja road while many others sustained injuries on Monday morning.

According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred at about 8.00a.m., when an articulated truck conveying onions with registration number XA 679 DNG fell on a white Hiace bus with registration number XD 762 JJN and a black Golf wagon with registration number AE 256 TDU.

The source added that while 28 persons were involved in the accident, 10 persons died on the spot.

It was further gathered that survivors, who sustained injuries, were taken to Ideal Hospital in Kotonkarfi and the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.

Meanwhile, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have taken over traffic control to avoid traffic congestion.

The state commander of the FRSC, Mr Michael Olapade, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, however, said six persons lost their lives in the accident, adding that overloading and dangerous overtaking were responsible for the accident.

He called on motorists to always drive with caution.
