...as NAAPE suspends strike

The management of Air Nigeria yesterday said that the strike embarked upon last week by the Nigerian Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers, NAAPE, against its airline had been called off just as the company re-stated its commitment to safe flight operations in all its routes.

An online statement by the airline’s Media Manager, Mr. Sam Ogbogoro, and made available to journalists, said that the airline would recommence normal flight operations across its domestic and regional routes.

The statement reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to strict compli-ance to safety regulations, maintaining that at no time did Air Nigeria compromise on standards.

The statement reads in part: “Therefore, we like to assure the public of our commitment to always of-fer quality and safe air services.

“Air Nigeria has an established safety record as it has consistently adhered to world class safety stan-dards as evident in its regis-tration for the third time in a row on the registry of the IATA Operational Safety Audit Program, IOSA.

“Air Nigeria till date remains the first and only airline in West Africa to have sustained this record.

“The airline regrets the inconveniences experienced by its passengers due to the disruption of its domestic and regional operations in the past week and urges them to contact the call centre on 012711111 or any of the Airport and City Ticketing Offices (ATOs & CTOs) for flight information and updates on bookings.

“Besides, the airline commiserates with the entire nation over the recent plane crash that claimed over 150 lives on Sunday.

“Our hearts are heavy with grief over the sad accident and we join the nation in praying for the re-pose of the departed souls.”
