El-Rufai's Comment On Anambra State Is An Insult To Igbo People - Peter Obi

Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State on Saturday said he had laid a proper foundation for the solid growth of the state from a near zero situation when he assumed office six years ago.

Obi who spoke at an interactive session with newsmen in Awka was reacting to issues raised by former FCT Minister El-Rufai in a national newspaper concerning governance in Anambra.



El Rufai reportedly said Anambra was the poorest state in the country, that it was educationally backward, lacked priorities and suffered from poor infrastructural development.

But Obi said, only those who had not been to the state, and who had poor knowledge of the state’s recent history could say so.

He said, “I am surprised that somebody I am not sure has been to Anambra State even as a minister comments about the state from the point of view of what I consider as pure, unadulterated ignorance.

“It is an insult to the Igbo race to openly or even remotely suggest that any part of Igbo land is the poorest in the country. This negates our resourcefulness and ingenuity as a people.

Was mallam Nasir El Rufai right to have blasted Anambra state like that? Considering that most beggars on our streets are from his state?

we know how they play this game nah......his pretending to be one good & upright Social Political critic of the government. What did he achievement when he was the minister of FCT ( make una no mind ooo, his target is 2015)

EL-RUFAI CAN BE SOMETHING BUT FAR FROM REALISTIC, his myopic and dull idea about Anambra state re totally inacceptable,
 how can a man from dumb northern hemispheric calling a whole big state of igboland such names'? travel and see mr man,
 for ur information Anambra is and has been the most influncial state in nigeria, has produced the most important personels in nigeria, the first president of nigeria ZIK OF AFRICA is from anambra, etc etc etc,the busiest  and most important market in africa is from anambra state, the most important building and towers in nigeria re in onitsha som pls go and hug transformer  el rufai

And educationally backward? The last time I read, was it not the east that carried the highest mark on the recent exams with the poorest coming from the north? So which one is educationally backward again? Odi egwu...
