Popular M-Net reality show, Big Brother Africa, has not only shot housemates to fame and stardom, but has seen them establish lifetime relationships.

In fact, from the last four editions of the game, a series of romance stories have been written and a total of three babies born from housemate love affairs.

2009 Big Brother Revolution winner, Nigeria’s Kevin Chuwang and his Tanzanian wife Elizabeth – who was also a BBA housemate, welcomed their first born a few months ago. The little girl was christened Savannah.  The couple hit it off while in the house and Kevin proposed after the show in 2010 and the couple eventually tied the knot on February 26, 2011 in a colourful wedding ceremony held in Abuja.

Those that had cast doubts over Meryl of Namibia and Tanzania’s Mwisho Mwampamba’s fling were left with egg on their faces. The two met during Big Brother All Stars in 2010, fell in love and got engaged in the house, becoming the very first Big Brother Africa couple to do that ever. Four months ago, the couple welcomed their Big Brother baby. Botswana’s two-time representative, Kaone Ramontshonyana, who witnessed the engagement, is thrilled about the developments.

“I was thinking about that the other day,” Kaone told Showbiz. “I think it’s nice – it goes to show that people can meet and get married.  It’s not just a game at the end of the day; there are real things that can come out of it,” he said. He believes the fact that two marriages have come out of it, is testimony that the show is more than just a game.

The Botswana star is particularly fascinated about South Africa’s Quinn Sieber and Mozambique’s Jennifer Mussanhaneare’s union. The couple recently welcomed their first baby. They were in BBA 4 in 2010.”I can’t remember if it’s a boy or girl, but it’s really exciting,” he added.

Philbert Okure, who represented Uganda in the fourth season, also is reportedly expecting a baby with Liziwe Coka, the South African housemate he fell in love with on the show. This year’s Big Brother Stargame may produce another couple after all.

If Luke‘s (Liberia) remarks are anything to go by, then he and Namibia’s Jessica could be an item after this year’s show. After being evicted last month, Luke disclosed his intentions to settle with Jessica after the show.  “I bonded well with Jessica and I’m planning to settle down with her after the show,” he said.  But, Big Brother has also had his failed relationships.

Botswana’s Tawana Lebani got intimate with Zimbabwe’s Munya Chidzonga in the Big Brother Amplified house. The relationship never lasted and Munya went on to marry his longtime sweetheart, Adiona Maboreke.
