Unknown gunmen on Sunday morning killed a lady in Tarauni Local Government area of Kano State, less than 12 hours after three people were killed at Kurnar Asabe quarters of Dala Local Government area on Saturday.
Those killed on Saturday were a former councilor in Gobirawaward, Alhaji Hussaini Adamu; a 12 year-old boy, Yahaya Magaji and a 17-year old girl, simply identified as Hadiza.
Sirajo Imam, a former vice chairman of the council, said that Adamu was shot on the head around 9.30 p.m. while standing with his friends near his home.
He said that shortly after shooting the former councilor who was a member of the vigilance group, the gunmen threw an improvised explosive device into his home before fleeing.
Another resident of the area, who preferred anonymity, said the assailants, who were many, arrived in the area in a car and motorcycles.
According to him, the attack could be traced to the arrest of a suspected member of the Boko Haram sect on June 26 by a policeman who were assisted by the residents.
He said on June 27, the gunmen killed the said policeman and stormed the area again on Saturday, killing three persons.
After killing the councilor on Sharu Uba street, the gunmen were said to have proceeded to Layin Poll where their bullets felled Magaji and Hadiza.
DSP Rilwanu Dutse, the state police public relations officer, confirmed Saturday’s attack, but said he was only aware of the death of the former councilor and three others who were injured.
Dutse also confirmed that on Sunday morning, a woman was shot dead and another person suffered gunshot wound by unknown gun men behind NNPC depot at Hotoro in Tarauni Local Government Area.
