President Goodluck Jonathan, on Monday at Jaji, Kaduna State, said his government would deploy all resources at its disposal to tackle the security challenges facing the country.

He said this at the equipment display and unveiling of Amoured Personnel Carriers as part of activities to mark the 2012 Army Day Celebration.

He said: “I will like to seize this opportunity to reaffirm this administration’s resolute commitment to deploying all the resources at its disposal to ensure that the challenges are met headlong.

“Our nation’s armed forces including the army as well as other security agencies are trying to ensure that in an integrated manner, peace and security are restored in all the affected areas in the country.”

The president further said that he recently approved the National Counter Terrorism syllabus to give clear direction to the nation’s
concerted effort in totally confronting and defeating the menace of terrorism.

He also commended the interface bet and the police and other security agencies in the fight against terrorism and other insurgencies in the country.

While commending the army innovation in the construction of locally made APC, he said it confirmed the combat readiness of the army in the defence of the country.

“I am particularly impressed by the use of direct labour by the army in many of the projects it has undertaken. Apart from saving cost, this initiative will also enhance the professional competence of our personnel.

“I urge you to continue in this manner and evolve more innovative strategies that will enhance the contribution to national infrastructural development which is the cardinal element of our transformation agenda,” the president said.
