Prosecutor Ude David had told the court that on July 2, one Arinze Eze of Baban Market St. Federal Housing Authority Lugbe, Abuja reported the case to the Wuse Police Station.
David said on the same date, the complainant was waiting for a taxi on Accra St. Wuse Zone 5, when the accused person and others at large, snatched his money.
The prosecutor said the stolen money was about N158,000, and a Nokia cell phone, worth N3,000, was also stolen from the complainant.
He said that the offence was contrary to Section 79, 287 and 183 of the Penal Code.
The accused person pleaded guilty and prayed for leniency.
Senior Magistrate Folashade Oyekan said that the offence was beyond pardon and ordered that the accused be sent to prison for one month without an option of fine. (NAN)
