The Commissioner of Land and Housing, Dr. Peter Sale Sarki who spoke through his counterpart in the Ministry of Solid Minerals, Alhaji Nuhu Musa after the state executive council meeting said that the government had intervened to ensure that the project started two years ago meet the desired objectives.
Consequently he said the government was putting N500m into the project through the Construction firm awarded the contract at the beginning to continue the construction work but under the supervision of government technical committee headed by the state Head of Service, Alhaji Ahmed Matane.
According to him, government intervened following the report of the technical committee set-up to find out the problems that had militated against the completion of the project which found out that poor funding accounted for the non completion.
He therefore said that on completion of the project which had so far gulped N940m the houses would be sold to the public on owner occupier basis and the proceeds would be put into an escrow account to enable the government recoup its investment.
Meanwhile the State executive council has also agreed that work on the new Minna City Centre should be started with the construction of the tower which would be about 60metre high.
The head of the committee on the centre, Dr Ibrahim Babamini Sule who disclosed this to newsmen also said that government had decided to go public in search of the name to be given to the city centre located on the grounds of the old Minna Central Market.
