A source in the troubled Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi State has just told SaharaReporters that unknown gunmen stormed a village in the area and killed four persons.   An injured survivor was taken to a hospital.

The incident occurred in Donga town of the Tafawa Balewa local government. Many people who were frightened by the gun shots scampered to safety.

The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Mohammed Ladan, confirmed the killings to SaharaReporters.
He said, “We got a distress call that some armed men stormed the area and opened fire on innocent people. When our men got there, four persons were confirmed dead and one person was injured, who is now receiving medical attention.”

He added that security operatives are still carrying out investigations and trailing the suspected heavily armed men.

As at the time of filing this report, nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier today, the State Government dispelled reports of a bomb attack upon the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Wailo, describing the rumours as the work of enemies of peace.
