…NAHCON unveils six airlines for operation
As part of its effort to keep the cost of 2012 Hajj reasonable, The Chairman, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Muhammad Bello yesterday in Abuja said that the Federal Government has subsidized this year’s hajj exercise by N47, 045.33 per pilgrim.

that the concessionary exchange rate of N145 to $1US granted by the federal government

would allow each pilgrim to enjoy a subsidy of N47.045.33
 He also announced the air carriers for this year hajj operation which include Medview, Kabo, Ethopian, Max and Meridian Airlines while the back up Air lines in case of unforeseen circumstances includes: Hamsal and Aero Aviation Airlines.

“I wish to announce the 2012 hajj fares based on the costing template discussed and agreed upon between the Commission and the States Pilgrims Welfare Board/Agencies and the concessionary exchange rate support of N145 to $1US approved by Mr. President as part of government’s desire to keep the cost of hajj reasonable for Nigerians pilgrims”. He said.

 While breaking down the 2012 Hajj fares, Bello said that, the basic cost of services without the pilgrims” persona; Basic Travel Allowance (BTA): Northern Departure Zones N504,895.00 and the Southern Zones cost N512,218.00.

 In addition, the pilgrim has an option of choosing any of the personal BTA options: minimum N108,750.00, Medium N1,000.00, and maximum N222,875.00.

 He further explained that, the increase in ticket cost by $100, the cost of accommodation  in Makkah which is increased by SR500 per bed space as a result of high demand due to demolition exercise of many buildings around  the mosque to make way for expansion has made the 2012 Hajj is about 18% higher than that of 2011.

 He added that the cost of tent “C” and feeding in Mina and Arafat has been increased by SR600 to the basic package, stressing that the increase is as a result of the consensus arrived at with the State Pilgrims.

 The air lifting of the pilgrims would commence on 18th September, 2012 with the First Hajj flight, while the last Hajj flight will take off on 17th October, 2012, noting that the Jeddah Airport will be closed by 21st November, 2012.

 He explained that the commission intends to work strictly to the time of departure and also monitor the service offered by the air service provider in order to ensure that the pilgrims have value for their money.

Bello enjoined the State Pilgrims Board to give priority to first timers based on the number of seats allocated by Saudi Authority which is 40%. Speaking during a press briefing news men in Abuja yesterday, the NAHCON Chairman noted.

I hope they will give the same subsidy to people that want to Visit JERUSALEM too?
I hope they will give the same subsidy to those who want to visit AMADIAOHA,SANGO,OGUN,OYA shrines too?
I hope they will not allow the CRAZY BOKO HARAMISTS to travel with them cos they can Blow off the pilgrimage planes?
