The secretary of the committee, Sheik Umar Faruk said yesterday in Minna after the Islamic clerics’ meeting that the warning had become imperative in order to make preachers adhere to the Islamic norms of peace.
Consequently he said that the committee had called for restrain from all preachers both within and outside the state for the Ramadan preaching.
He said the Islamic scholars in the state had resolved to preach to their followers on the need for unity on the issue of sighting of the moon for the commencement of this year’s Ramadan Fast while urging all Muslims to begin the Ramadan Fast at the same time.
Meanwhile the state government is set to inaugurate a 30 man peace committee to interface and enhance peaceful coexistence among people living in the state irrespective of creed and religious belief.
The committee to be inaugurated next week Monday by Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu is to be chaired by Barrister Abraham Yisa and Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu Madugu is to serve as the secretary.
