Edo Election: 3 Policemen, INEC Officer Die As Boat Capsizes

Three policemen including two inspectors and one constable and an adhoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have reportedly died in Ethiope River while taking electoral materials to riverine communities in Ologbo, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area.



Details of the incident are yet to emerge. It was gathered that police rescue team are searching for bodies of the dead.

They were said to have died when the speed boat they were travelling in capsized.

Confirming the report, State Commissioner of Police, Olayinka Balogun said he was yet to get the names of the dead officers.

He said he was sad that he lost three men at once.
