One dead as gunmen attack police vehicle in Damaturu

Unidentified gun men at the early hours of today attacked a police vehicle conveying officers of the Yobe state police command command to the command headquarters along Gashua road in Damaturu the state capital.

Witnesses say a civilian woman was killed during the attack. At the moment, no official statement has been made concerning the attack.

Activities in the town have come to a standstill with civil servants and business men deprived of going to their places of work as movement has being temporarily suspended.

This is happening just two days after some security men on patrol were ambushed by unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect at the Nasarawa Ward of Damaturu killing a police man in the process.
