The federal Government should stop the contract given to former top Niger Delta militants Dokubo-Asari, Tompolo and others to guard pipelines or else Boko Haram members should be invited and given such contract, National President of African Youths for Conflict Resolution and Prevention Dr Suleiman Shuaibu, said in Kaduna yesterday.

Tompolo, Dokubo-Asari, Boyloaf and Ateke Tom are being paid respectively N5.1bn, N1.44bn, N608m and N608m yearly by the Nigerian Na-tional Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to protect the pipelines from oil scooping.

“It is obvious that President Goodluck cannot handle the mantle of leadership of Nigeria because he cannot maintain justice. If Asari Dokubo, Tompolo and others can be given N6.32bn to guard pipelines that they are ones destroying and which is an offence punishable under the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, that shows the high level of injustice”, Shuaibu said.

Northerners, he said, are tired of Jonathan’s inhumanity and insincerity and therefore called on the northern elites to wake up from their slumber.

“Already, they have killed the northern states; we don’t have power, money, foods, our markets, business centres are all gone; Kano, Maiduguri, Kaduna, Yobe, Sokoto, Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau are all gone. Are we not Nigerians?,” he asked.

On his own part, the President of Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria (CRC), Shehu Sani, said the “widely revealed payment of billions of tax payers’ money to leaders of the Niger-Delta militants stands condemned”, saying it clearly exposes the facade and the inherent fraud in the truce and the amnesty program.

Sani also said the “huge and scandalous” payment to pacify the militants clearly demonstrate that the agitation in the Niger-Delta was not about the plights of the suffering people there but a machantile and bogus approach to state extortion and blackmail.
