The Bible teaches forgiveness, but store owners who sell the good book for profit won’t forgive if you fail to pay for your copy of the Bible before leaving the store.

Police say a metro Atlanta woman is facing charges after she stole a Bible from a local bookstore.

Ashley Chacari Fleming of Powder Springs, Georgia allegedly tried to steal a Bible from a local Barnes & Noble. Store employees say she left the store without paying for the book.

“Said accused did exit the store with the merchandise, passing all pay counters,” reads Fleming’s arrest warrant. Fleming was arrested by sheriff’s deputies at around 3:30 PM on Friday.

It may’ve been better for Fleming to visit a church to get her copy of the Bible since many of them give away Bibles for free.

“We believe that God’s word should be given freely, and so if someone comes in to our campus and they don’t have God’s word, then we are very happy to give them a copy of God’s word,” said Roswell Street Baptist Church pastor Mark Scardino.

She has been charged with shoplifting and released on $1,000 bond.

What do you think? Should the store have let this one go or should Fleming have respected the commandment of thou shall not steal?
