Prophet Duromola Samuel, founder/general overseer, Christ Worshippers’ Church, Osubi, Warri, Delta State, has stated that the fear that the country would break in 2015 is unfounded.

In this interview, he said that despite violence, killings and bombings, the country will survive.

What’s your view on emergency rule declared by President Jonathan?

It shows that the President is listening to the voice that is crying in the wilderness. The truth is that I asked for three things and he has completed them. If they had listened to my advice and warning to the nation, we would not have experienced any calamity. But as long as he listens to me, nothing would touch him. The truth is that people think that Jonathan is too gentle to rule this country and he is gradually showing the stuff he’s made off,  with the declaration of state of emergency in three states in North East states.

Nigeria needs a tough leader because the challenges are enormous and it requires sheer tenacity to deal with. I am not saying a leader who will abuse the rights of people, but one who will be able to tackle the problems without minding whose ox is gored.  Nigeria is a very difficult country to rule and it is also the easiest country to rule if the leader understands the situation of the country and has the quality to tackle issues.

A tough leader who can take the bull by the horn is what Nigeria needs at this stage. Jonathan is there because it is God’s favour on him. I personally told Jonathan when he was a deputy governor that he would be governor before the end of that year. In 2008, I also predicted that Jonathan would go higher. Then, he became vice president. It was what God had for him. Jonathan should use his mandate to better the lives of Nigerians. Of course, he is surrounded by people who do not want him to succeed, people who are giving him wrong advice and people who are working for their own pockets. His current cabinet cannot help him to succeed. The oppositions have been complaining when seeing good things, but they should do constructive criticisms.

Terrorists in Nigeria cannot stand the text of time. I can assure you that more terrorists would still spring up. We should pray against revolution. I have been praying for Mr. President spiritually and should submit himself to God. Henceforth in any budget, they should allocate 10 percent for religions and Nigeria will get better.

There are fears that Nigeria may break up in 2015, as a prophet of God, what is your take on this issue?

People are speculating that 2015 election will split Nigeria. Well, let me say it here that Nigeria will not break, no matter the efforts to split it. Nigeria will not break. Anybody who predicts or says Nigeria will break is a liar. Nigeria is a country that will come out of its travails to be a great nation. There will be a kind of revolution in my lifetime that will redefine this country and that is why I will call on rich people, like Dangote, Adenuga and the rest to begin to invest in the poor people of this country because that is the only way they will not be consumed by the wrath of the people when the time comes, and Nigeria will be great.

Do you really think there will be a revolution in Nigeria?

There will be a revolution in Nigeria and it will happen in my lifetime. People who have stolen from this country by whatever means will have to answer the people. In 2019, a new leader will emerge, a young leader. He will have military or police background and he will give Nigeria the right leadership. Nigeria will rise and be great. There is a lot of hope for Nigeria. The problem with Nigeria is not the government but corruption and insincerity of purpose.

Occultism has taken over the reign in Nigeria. What can be done to curb it?

I have been preaching against cultism in my church for the past 35 years. As a result of it, I have been attacked on several occasions and I don’t afraid of death. If you don’t belong to any system, you cannot benefit anything. If I am permitted, I can single handedly chased away cultism in Nigeria and if they can invite me to the FEC, NASS, spiritually, I would kick them out and tell the cult they belong, although we’re still winning since darkness cannot prevail on the light. Although, constitution bans cultism in Nigeria. If they allow me, I know how to arrest them, but politician would not allow it.

Asari-Dokubo has threatened war if Jonathan is not given a second term. Can  you say on this ominous sign?

There is freedom of speech. In actual fact, he is not the only one who voted for him. General Buhari once said the country would be ungovernable. Indeed, we should be cautioned on the way he talked. He is only speaking his mind. God has already favoured Mr. President for second term. When Goodluck is derailing I would criticise him. I have been arrested in the past when I criticised the government. Meanwhile, military in Nigeria are well trained and are up to the task.

As a pastor, what is your relationship with Christian Association of Nigeria?

I am not a member of CAN and I cannot be part of it. CAN is now a parastatal of government. What CAN officials are now doing is patronising government and this shouldn’t be the case. Yes, as spiritual leaders, they ought to be praying for the good and progress of the nation. The Bible says we should pray for those in authorities and I have been praying for them without going to Aso Rock. But all they do is go to Abuja and other state capitals, visiting government. They are making money and living large at the expense of Christians they lead. They now want to live like politicians and businessmen. They own private jets and Nigerians will say they are men of God, they should not be judged. Where are they getting the money? Let EFCC starts probing churches accounts.

Can you comment on the proposed university your church is planning?

The type of  university I am planning to bring to Owo is going to be unique. It is a Christian university and it is going to be tuition-free; everything would be free. The Bible school has commenced.  I have some agreement with my partners abroad. It is just like UNESCO programme. It is aimed at eradicating illiteracy. After some time, secular studies would be introduced. I have acquired a large expanse of land for the purpose. What is causing delay is just resolution of family conflict on a part of the land and it has been resolved amicably. At this junction, I really commend the effort of the juncture. It shows light has overcome darkness.

Other things I planned for Owo includes free interest banking loans. The bank would finance small and medium scale businesses in Owo and environs. They would advice and monitor the business to succeed.

What’s your take on the planned centenary celebration?

We are celebrating 100 years of freedom from colonialism and 100 years of poverty. People only blame President Jonathan, but it had been heaps of problem. It is high time we stopped corruption that has eating deep in the society. All leaders should returns stolen wealth before the wrath of God upon them.

Nigeria is reputed as giant of Africa. Do you think so?

Nigeria is a giant of Africa. I could remember when I travelled to Sierra Leone for evangelism. I was treated like a hero, as a spiritual president of Africa and being a Nigeria. I saw Abacha Street and when I was preaching, they listened to me, but the main problem in Nigeria is corruptions everywhere and despite that we still have some reserves.

Could you tell us about revival in Bayelsa?

If you can be a pastor in Warri, you can be a pastor anywhere. I have been there for the past 35 years. I have all tribes in my church. I find it easy in Bayelsa and my second home. God really manifested at the revival, and many miracles happened. God performed wonder and we are waxing stronger. Very soon, we are building a cathedral there, but let Governor Dickson surrender his campaign office to the church because God put him on the seat.
