At last, there is a law in Nigeria that goes against domestic violence. Dear Nigerian men, if you need a visa-free to jail, all you need to do is beat your women.
According to Honorable Joke Orelope-Adefulire, the deputy governor of Lagos State, the domestic violence law is made to protect the interest of anyone who may be a victim of domestic violence, most especially the women who are a frequent target of domestic violence.
In case of domestic violence,
The abuser will be removed from home depending when the abuse is corrected or
The complainant is removed from home and placed in a protective home and
financial assistant will be rendered by the state via the Office of the Public Defender/Legal Aid Council to the victim of abuse who may not be financially abled to seek redress in court.
and the court may issue warrant of arrest and remand order for abusers.
