Armed Robber Burnt Alive In Onitsha Anambra State As Police Investigate Jungle Justice

robber burnt alive onitsha anambra state

Close to the location of a baby found dumped in Onitsha on Friday was the badly burnt body of a young man in his late 20s who had boarded a luxury bus going to Lagos with a view to robbing other passengers on the way but luck ran against him as he was searched and a locally made pistol found on him.

The incident according eyewitness accounts occurred at 9pm on Thursday when the suspect dressed in a black suit boarded the luxury bus with other passengers. But when the driver wanted to move, he asked that a search on passengers be conducted and it was during the search that a locally made pistol fell off from the suspect’s pocket. As a result, he was lynched and burnt by irate youths.

Confirming the incident, the Onitsha Police Area Commander, Mr. Benjamin Wordu said the policemen discovered the burnt body of the suspect at the Upper Iweka, adding that he was a victim of jungle justice. Wordu urged residents of the commercial city to go about their normal businesses on the ground that the situation has been brought under control and investigations were ongoing.

So there was NO evidence he was an armed robber. What condemned him to desth was the fact that a pistol fell out of his pocket during an on-the-spot search of passengers.

When this happened, the people around all happened to be judges, jurors and ececutioners? How convienient!

When will Nigeria stop shedding blood on a whim. Would it had not been better to hand him over to the police?

I am not condoning the fact that he had a pistol (very old fashioned word?) on him - however he could have had it on him for othet reasons.

Nigerians should stop.killing indiscriminately. All those who took part in this lynching are no better than Boko Haram currently unleashing terror in the northern part of Nigeria.

Well.......

Bad action by mob.

But are they to be blamed?
NPF is well known for their ability to discard justice and conscience once money is on the table.

Nigerians are growing weary of their inability to fully execute their office. Hence the urge to take laws into their hands.

Times are hard.....Country is harder....the so called "Leaders" are causing enough damage already to the masses....as a result, People get infuriated when someone without political immunity tries to rob them of the earnings of their sweat.

Everyone likes good things.....everyone go like enter Aero.
Night bus no be enjoyment.....na management.....so I understand mobs anger.
