The event will hold at his official residence in Abuja House, West London.

"He will leave for Nigeria either that weekend or a few days later," a source at the High Commission said during a send-off party organised in his honour by CANUK, the umbrella body of all Nigerian organisations in the United Kingdom.

Ambassador Dozie Nwanna, OON, will act as the High Commissioner until President Umaru Yar'Adua appoints another envoy.

Nwanna, a career diplomat of about three decades, was presented to the Nigerian community during the party at the Linford Christie Stadium in White City, West London.

"Nwanna will be the acting High Commissioner until the President makes up his mind on who to appoint," said Kolade, while introducing the ambassador and his wife, Rose.

In an interview, Nwanna extolled Kolade’s virtues.

He described the outgoing High Commissioner as "the best, I have seen in all the foreign missions I have worked in.
