Bama-Banki road is on the border with Cameroun and about 78 kilometres east of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The 7 Division of Nigerian Army also Friday in Maiduguri said three passengers were also killed along the road, while the gunmen snatched an undisclosed amount of money from their victims.
Speaking on the incidents, spokesman of the Division, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, disclosed: “Intelligence available to us indicated that in desperation, the Boko Haram terror suspects have also written a letter to traders at Dikwa market demanding for N1million to enable them purchase food items and logistic materials required for their insurgency or be ready to face the wrath of the Islamists sect members,” he said.
