A pregnant woman was beaten to a coma in Ade-Alu area of Lagos State. The matter was reported to the police, and the suspect has been apprehended.

Mrs. Funmi Adebiyi, the victim whose pregnancy is in its eighth month, resides in a residence at Abiodun Sadiku Street. It was gathered that another resident, Canice Innocent, was hit when Adebiyi suddenly opened the door of her apartment. The minor incident left Mr. Innocent slightly injured, and he allegedly shouted at the woman, attracting the attention of other neighbours including his wife.

Mrs. Innocent and Mrs. Adebiyi engaged in a verbal fight, and, annoyed by that, Mr. and Mrs. Innocent reportedly attacked her and kept beating her until she collapsed. Other neighbours tried to intervene, but to no avail.

The pregnant woman was later taken to the hospital where she is currently receiving medical attention.

The victim's husband Adebayo Adebiyi said his wife is over seven months pregnant. He narrated that, upon returning from work, he found his wife "beaten to a pulp," and took her to a nearby hospital. Adebayo added doctors were battling to save his wife and the baby.

He said the matter was reported at the Alado police station, where Mr Innocent is detained.
