The Governor of Benue State, Governor Gabriel Torwua Suswam Tingir, has said those behind the sustained attacks and killings of innocent Benue indigenes are terrorists who only disguise as herdsmen, NaijaSharpNews correspondent in Makurdi has reported. Gov Suswam, in his comments made after the recent killings in the State  said the terrorists in Benue have assumed the herdsmen dimension only to attract public sympathy while executing unarmed and peace loving people of the State.

The Governor who enjoined Benue residents to cooperate with security agents disposed to the State, said the President has directed that stiff security measures be applied in the State in a bid to contain the killings.

"The recent attacks on Benue State including parts of Makurdi have displaced lots of people and disrupted the peaceful co - existence of
our dear state. l had approached Mr. President and he promptly sent a Team of Security Agents (GOC of Nigeria Army and a DlG of Police,
Operations) to quickly move to end the terrorist attacks. These terrorists disguise as herdsmen so as to attract public sympathy while killing innocent and unarmed people. We are determined not just to end the attacks but bring the terrorists to justice.
l enjoin you to remain calm and cooperate with the security agents to suceed as you go about your normal businesses, I sympathise with those who have lost loved ones and properties to these senseless killings" Governor Suswam is quoted to have said.
