AT least five persons, including a 500-level student of the Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, have been killed in the past two weeks in a renewed cult war in Edo State.
The Edo State Police Commissioner who had earlier warned that the command would not tolerate any form of cult related killing in the state, vowed to fish out the perpetrators after investigations must have been carried out.
The 500-level Computer Science student of the AAU identified as Osagie Osamudiamen, was said to have been shot at close range in a popular hotel in the university town of Ekpoma.
We learnt that he was trailed by members of a rival cult group to a serene location where he was caught. He was said to be a leader of one of the cult groups in the school.
Also, a musician simply identified as Jonathan was killed in front of a hotel opposite the popular Ekiosa market, near Third Junction in Benin City, last Thursday.
It was learnt that three other persons yet to be identified were found dead around St Saviour area, near Niger College in Upper Sakpoba road and New Benin area.
It was further learnt that the killing of the 500-level student led to a reprisal attack in different parts of the state.
