Please, lets treat this issue carefully...
Its disturbing how most of our people look at this abroad thing. Some fink when you travel abroad you pick money on the streets. On my way to T&T last year, i had a stop over in cuba and saw lots of our people stranded there and some cant even afford to shave. Even in T&T, China and some European countries, some of them got disappointed and are ashamed to come back empty handed considering the money spent to get there. Please, what can we do?

I really think its cos some people just burst out of the country for now explainable reason, all in the name of going out to make more money?  I think life is a business and an essential business plan is needed for succes.

Well who would not want to stay in his father's land with his famly and people who love them being around. Who do not want to enjoy the company of friends he knows and trust. Yet still no one want to live with constant darkness, armed robbers, bad road, police embarrassement, unemployment. People go abroad, come back and tell ofbetter lfe they live abroad. Others gets interested and sell their houses to go abroad... The question is... WHO DO WE BLAME???

we should blame the society that cherish materialism over simple life style.obviously dats the problem with most blacks.the moment we appreciate simple life style, then i believe things are goin to be better in nigeria and africa as a whole.there will be no need to travel abroad to experience a better way of living if most basic infrastructures are being provided here.if we should look at nigeria, people tend to respect the wealthy n influential group regardless of their character.no respect for common man.i understand we all want to live a good life but how can this be when greed n some kind of stupid mentality dat some pple have to keep like 4 to 5 n drive extremly flashy cars like hummer bentley, mansions n lot more.if we compare our selves with d whites, they manufacture most of dis cars n other flashy stuffs but hardly use them, them selves n exports this things to us cos they know we cherish such tns.they inturn have good policies n use this funds to maintain their well planned n booming economy.they manage their resouces n prevent wastage of their resources which we are yet to adopt that strategy.so u can imagine sm1 who is self disciplined but was oppressed by the currupt n richone will have that tendency to be corrupt someday.so d corruption tn continues.so i believe to reduce d level of corruption and other possible factors jeoperdising african economy development,we need to check our attitudes, believe in ourselves n uphold good norms and values.God bless naija n mama africa.

if nigeria was good enough do you think people would travel out?
if nigerian students were given same opportunity as american students, do you think i would travel?
Nigerian system SUCKS bad, and why wont people leave?
I just laugh when people say nigeria is good....I know there is no place like home..oh yeah, but you gotta face the truth...Nigeria needs help and that country would become worse unless something is done as soon as possible....

This is no doubt an interesting topic as it has to do with those of us in Diaspora. I will not be speaking on-behalf of anyone here but speaking for myself. I just wish 50% of Nigerians will have the opportunity to travel out of the country just for once and i bet by the time they return home, there would be bloody revolution. Nigerians will be able to compare whichever country they visited with Nigeria and realise the difference. I reside in Kuwait and i will tell you what it feels like to be here for the past 2 years without the electricity blinking for once not to talk of power failure. Talk about the road network and other social amenities that could prolong one's life. While in Nigeria,i can hardly survive three months without having malaria fever as a result of mosquito bites but for the period i have been here,i have not fallen sick for just 2 minutes. I never thought i could put on extra pound and i was wrong until i began to find it difficult getting soem of the clothes i brought from Nigeria on. I had to start watching what i eat and exercising. When you're abroad,a job you earn almost three times of what you earn doing the same job back home. Why won't people want to leave the country in drove? You discover out here that government assist their citizen in one way or the other, but what sort of assistance do people get from Nigerian governemnt. Look,i love Nigeria as my country but the fact remains that "Aye dun je juya lo". Who does'nt like good life? That is why you find so many not wanting to return home not minding whatever they could pass through here knowing very well that, their times will come. I faced similar difficulties at first but to the glory of God,i am better off today. Government of Nigeria is wicked and we only just need to pray for God to change their mind towards people of Nigeria.

d thing is u cant blame those pple who want 2 travel abroad at all costs, dis abroad mentality is borne out of sheer frustration over d economic state of d nation, unemployement levels r high,d public educational system is becomin a thing of national disgrace with the frquent occurence of strikes, cultism, corruption n a distinct lack of essential infrastructure. public health care is also suffering. there r 2 many issues on d ground for d common man 2 contend with, hence d simplest solution dt usually springs 2 mind is to search 4 greener pastures in a foreign land. howeva, d reality of d situation is we cannot fully enjoy n utilise d privileges in dis countries due 2 d fact dt we r nt citizens!!

I duno, my popzs migrated to Europe because his was in pursuit of a specific degree but everybody migrates for personal reasons. The thing that gets me is how Africa is still considered a developing continent when it’s economic, political and social structure was emulated by the old world.  We my not agree with it but it is the foundation of African’s culture and the new world still hasn’t defined itself in that way. My momzs is also of the old world and she agrees with me. The new world is great but it still struggles with the same bullshitzz issues as it did in the 1800’s; Identity. There is a fabulous philosopher  that I took in undergrad name Dr. Robert Birt who wrote an anthology called The Quest for Community and Identity, anyway, once people here in the states decide what most people of the old world already know, which is that they're North phyukinnn American, then they'll be on their way to understanding themselves. (South African’s please stop encouraging them to believe that their phyukingggg African) Descendants are what they are, like everybody else of the Diaspora   ... My popzs, talks about the days when African's use to pretend to be British, lol. He said being African British was the thing for some Africans’ like that made them something; it was a hysterical, hahahaha    Like in America, man you can pretend to be just about anything, it’s really the milting pot here.  America will get there culturally after earth, air, fire and water do there thing here.  Until then, stop kidding yourself, everybody peepzs phony, fake, wanna be asszzzzzzz migrants on the dollar bill mission; trust that bullshitzz will never not be bullshittzz -- -please believe!

Who say people are suffering in abroad. If you do not have your proper documents to sail thruogh, you should not travel out until you have your papers. Those who come here and say shit about our poeple are suffering in abroad is because they came here illigally and running from one place to the other hidding from the authorities and not securing a proper jobs. For those that people are suffering in abroad, speak to your self because my families and I people plus other people are know are not suffering.

Nothing wrong in going abroad for opportunities what is wrong is the mentality that one leaves their homeland with. As Dguy said we should plan even the bible tells you that you should plan before doing things. There are times persons have this notion that the grass is greener on the other side which in truth and in fact it is not. If you decide not to work for the little in your country then when you go to a foreign country you will do the same.

I have seen my natives leave Jamaica who will not work and when they go to the USA they don't want to work as well. There is also the issue of Work Permit and before one leaves their country they should always seek out about the working condition and what are the papers necessary to work in another country. How much will this cost because without a Work Permit you will be a fugitive in that country.

My advice to those who want to seek greener pastures is to find out about the Working Permit especially if you are coming to the Caribbean. I wouldn't encourage anyone to seek work in Trinidad and Tobago or Cuba because these countries put their citizens first. There is no way a foreigner can go there and get jobs unless it is those that you wouldn't do in your fathers land. Read about the countries and their policy before purchasing that Plane Ticket.
