T.B. Joshua is perhaps one of Nigeria’s best-known 'televangelists' and faith-healers. His miracles are performed before tens of thousands at his Lagos mega-church and to countless more via the web and on his own TV-channel.
His sermons keep the faithful enraptured and the funds coming in. Believers come from across the globe to hear his words, to be cured of a range of mental and physical afflictions. However, numerous believers and non-believers doubt his healing and predicting powers.
Bamidele says:
"Somebody has never been able to hear, or speak, start speaking English after 35 years of being deaf and dumb. And people believe this stuff, they drop money for this stuff. All we do is tell people that it is okay to ask questions. It's okay to be different. It's okay to question the things that you've believed in all your life."
Ahmed says he was paid around $150 to pretend to be a man who couldn't walk and then be healed.
"The pastor took olive oil and just [poured] the olive oil on me. I started to [twitch and growl], but the congregation didn’t know anything. They were taking is it as a miracle. But to [the other side], it's a business."
