Arik Airline has given passengers on flight WT3107 from Lagos to JFK a 50% discount off the prevailing rate for their chosen class of travel over the inhuman treatment on the delayed New York bound on March 31.
The Airline was reported to have kept the passengers of the flight on board for about one and half hours under suffocating condition due to the breakdown of its air conditioner.
In an email sent to the passengers, Dr. Michael Arumemi-Ikhede, Group Chief Executive Officer of Arik Air Limited said:
“First and foremost I would like to thank you for your continued patronage of Arik Air. It has been my single most important objective to ensure that we provide you a safe, secure and world class experience on every step of your Arik Air journey.”
“However, we humbly acknowledge the fact that when building, and running, the largest airline in West and Central Africa we do come across situations where undesirable service delivery failures take place. Such was the case on our flight W3107 on 31st March 2014 bound from Lagos, Nigeria to New York, USA.”
“The pre-departure handling of said flight (Done by Arik Air’s direct staff and Arik Air’s contracted ground handling agents) was less than satisfactory. However, the safe operation of the airplane was the priority prior to this long haul flight across the Atlantic, and as such the proper loading of our airplane was necessary.”
“On behalf of the executive management, I sincerely and unreservedly apologize for the lack of professionalism demonstrated during this flight. You have my assurance, that we have addressed the situation with the agencies and operational areas concerned as it is of utmost importance to us that we restore the good faith you have bestowed upon us as, Nigeria, Central and West Africa’s largest airline.”
“As a gesture of goodwill, I welcome you to enjoy your next flight with us at a 50% discount off the prevailing rate for your chosen class of travel. Details concerning how to claim your 50% discount rate can be found in the annex to this missive.”
“Once more I assure of my highest regard to your safety and security standards and my gratitude for your continued patronage of Arik Air.”
