20-yr-old woman ordered to refund N30,000 dowry

A Grade 1 Area Court  in Aso Pada, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, has ordered a 20-year-old woman, Patience Kaka, to refund  the sum of N30,000 which was paid as her  bride price to her  ex-husband, Samson Ade, within seven days.

The judge, Mr Albert Maga, gave the order after counsel to Samson, Mr Idris Gadzama, told the court that Patience refused  to  adhere  to the court’s  order given  on April to pay back the dowry.

He further  advised  Patience  to discuss with her relatives  on how to make the refund.

Patience, a fuel attendant, had earlier  told the court  she had been ill for a month  and didn’t  have   enough money  to make a refund.

“I want the court to give me up to next month to enable me pay back the N30,000 he paid as my bride price,’’ she said.   

Patience on November 14, 2012 instituted a divorce suit against Samson.

She told the court she was no longer interested in their marriage as she suspected that the husband intended to use her for rituals.

She also alleged that he didn’t  take good care of her and always maltreated her.

Samson denied the allegations and told the court, he still loved his wife.

On April 9, the court finally separated them and ordered Patience to  make a  refund of  the sum of  N30,000 paid as her bride price to Samson.

The court refused to grant  Patience the two-weeks grace to make the refund. 

“Illness is not an excuse not to obey a court order,” it  said.

At least the lady has escaped with her life.

 There is nothing so bad as being in a so-called husband- wife relationship where domestic violence is on the menu everyday!

All the ladies from places they pay 500k for dowry....think well.
'cos if you say u no want again......you must refund.

That is the law,hence she make or asked for the divorce then she has to refund the payment made for dowry,many of us are ignorance of the laws guarding those kind of issues.

IF OUR MEN SHOULD KNOW THE LAW,THEN THE WOMEN WHO LOVE TO BE A ROAD PROSTITUTES WILL NOT MARRY TODAY AND RUN AWAY TOMORROW WITH ALLEGATIONS.....THE COURT SHOULD HAVE ASK HER TO PAY 500K..WHAT DID SHE SEE BEFORE GETTING MARRIED?AFTER THE MAN HAVE WASTED ALL HIS MONEY TO GET MARRY WITH HER,AND SHE COME UP WITH MANY WORDS BECAUSE SHE IS A ROAD SIDE PROSTITUTE.....MANY OUR GIRLS ARE INTO THE SAME.
