Less than 12 hours after the 2014 FIFA World Cup come to an end, latest reports indicate that Brazil’s coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, has lost his job.

According to local reports in South America, the former Portugal manager was sacked after the hosts ended their World Cup campaign with two embarrassing defeats against Germany and Holland.

Scolari had said he would let the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) decide his fate after the host were beaten 7-1 by eventual tournament winners Germany in the semi-final and 3-0 by Holland in the third-place playoff.

But, just hours after the Maracana played host to Germany’s win over Argentina in the final, the CBF have reportedly brought an end to Scolari’s time in charge of the national side.

Scolari led Brazil to World Cup victory in 2002 in Japan before taking charge for a second time in December 2012, just before Brazil hosted the Confederations Cup.

Brazil won that tournament, seen as a dress rehearsal for the World Cup, but were unable to match their feat in this summer’s tournament where many were critical of the host’s rough tactics on the pitch.

As at the time of compiling this report, the CBF is yet to announce who to replace Scolari.
