Legal case against the town's rat !!!

In 1512, priests in Autun, France, brought a legal case against the town's rats because they were eating the barley crop. However, the rats' lawyer, Bartholomew Chassenee, successfully argued not all rats could have received the summons- and couldn't appear in court because they might be eaten by cats!!!

Thant was the end of the case, all rats were then absolved of the blames and all charges dropped!!!
