The Archbishop of Jos, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, has accused Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor of denting the image of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), over his recent involvement in the recent “arms deal” in South Africa.
Speaking  With us,  in Kaduna yesterday, Archbishop Kaigama, said they had been watching with sadness how Oristejafor had been hanging out with the Presidency for long.
He accused the CAN President of dragging Christianity into the mud.
Kaigama, who doubles as President, Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria also faulted the way Pastor Oritsejafor was running the Christian union like a political party.
He called on relevant authorities to investigate the matter objectively and ensure that those found guilty are punished accordingly.
“It is not proper; the guilty must be punished. It is not acceptable for a Christian leader to be seen always with the President. We in the Catholic have always picked holes in Oritsejafor’s style of leadership in CAN and we even wanted to stop attending CAN meeting at the national level”, he said.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria has accused Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor of smearing the image of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), saying it is wrong for his plane to be associated with the scandalous “arms deal” in South Africa.

Speaking on BBC Hausa Service monitored in Kaduna on Wednesday, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, who is the Archbishop of Jos and President, Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria, said they had been watching with sadness how Oristejafor had been hobnobbing with the Presidency for long. He accused the CAN President of dragging Christianity into the mud.

In the words of Bishop Kaigama: “It is not proper; the guilty must be punished. It is not acceptable for a Christian leader to be seen always with the President. We in the Catholic have always picked holes in Oritsejafor’s style of leadership in CAN and we even wanted to stop attending CAN meeting at the national level.”

He faulted the way Pastor Oritsejafor was running CAN and urged the authorities to investigate the matter dispassionately and ensure that those found guilty are punished according to the law of the land.

Archbishop Kaigama said the government should intensify efforts to restore the security situation in troubled parts of the country and expressed worry over the situation in the Northeast.

It is quite shameful that every aspect of our system had been politicised even in the church. Politics in govt to the traditional setting and now into the church, so where can we run to if there is need for justice in all fairness. It's a shame and God will continue to expose all thos who hide in His name to perpetuate evil.

individuals are poor and can't feed three times daily,,,but our churches spend millions of dollars in private Jets, which mean billions of Naira,,,we are just 170m population,,,,stead the church will share even hundred thousand naira to everyone in Nigeria,,,if they share one million each, the money is too much as well....lol......but they waste it on Jets worth billions of naira...do we still pay tithe in the church again??because the so called pastors are criminals and only enriched themselves and their family with our offering and tithe money..hahahahaha
