Cristiano Ronaldo moved closer to smashing Raul’s long standing Champions League record, after he scored in Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

The Portugal international controlled a scooped pass from James Rodriguez and finished past Simon Mignolet. Karim Benzema helped himself to a brace, as the La Liga ended the match as a contest in the first 45 minutes.

Arsenal needed two late strikes from Kieran Gibbs and Lukas Podolski to see off Anderlecht, who took a 72nd lead through Andy Najar. In the group’s other game, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice, as Borussia Dortmund grabbed a 4-0 away victory over Galatasaray.

Athletico Madrid thrashed Malmo 5-0, Olympiakos shocked Juventus 1-0 in Greece, while Ludogorets won 1-0 at home to Basel.

There were no goals between Monaco and Benfica, while Bayer Leverkusen beat Zenit 2-0 at home.
