NYSC member raped to death in Borno

MAIDUGURI — A 22-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was serving with El-Kanemi College of Business Administration (ECOBA), Maiduguri, Miss Grace Adei Uchang was,  Saturday, September 26th, raped to death near her residence at the Customs area Maiduguri, Borno State capital.

Uchang, who hailed from Calabar, Cross River State, was a Bachelor of Education and Administration degree holder from the University Calabar, posted to ECOBA, Maiduguri for her primary assignment.

Speaking to Vanguard on the incident, the Principal of the school, Mr. Alfred  Adikwu said the deceased had left her residence to buy food around 6:30 pm, only for her corpse to be discovered close to a near by river around 9p.m. same evening.

Adikwu said he immedia-tely rushed to the scene when contacted, saw the corpse with a deep cut on the forehead and half naked. He said “we immediately rushed to the Gwange Police station and reported the matter, while they promptly took the corpse to a hospital for autopsy.”

According to Adikwu, medical reports indicated that late Miss Uchang was physically assaulted and raped, thereby sustaining grievous injury, which might have resulted to her death, as there was no immediate medical attention.
