Mother Kills Own 2-Day Old Son

:oA young nursing mother this week allegedly murdered her two- day old baby by injecting the baby with a poisonous substance believed to be Novan at Tyowanye in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State .

According to an eye witness account, the young mother, whose name was given as Nguemo Tyokia, allegedly killed her newly born baby for no justifiable reasons as the baby was in sound health as at the time of birth.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that the lady allegedly carried out the bizarre act in her room while the baby was deep in sleep and most neighbours had gone out to the farms.

One of the locals said the little baby’s persistent yell after being injected with the poisonous substance attracted neighbours who dashed to the house.

It was however discovered by the baby’s grandmother,  Mrs. Mngenda Hamgba that her son’s wife had injected the baby with the poisonous substances.

“When we discovered what had happened, we rushed the baby to the hospital in our locality in Tyowanye but unfortunately help came a little too late as the baby died few hours later”, she said.

Meanwhile,  the state police command has commenced the prosecution of the suspect at a Gboko Magistrate Court.

When the case came up no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction as prosecution also applied for another date for the commencement of definite hearing as investigation into the matter was still ongoing.

Adjourning the case, Chief Magistrate Dan Ogor ordered that the accused be remanded at the Gboko Prisons pending the definite commencement of the case on the 9th of November.
