It was divine intervention that brought policemen from the Ikotun Police Division or a 26-year-old commercial motorcyclist, popularly called Okada man, Tunde Adewale, would have been a dead man after he was lynched by an angry mob along Ijegun Community Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos, after he was accused of aiding two suspected armed robbers to escape on his motor bike.
The incident which occurred in the afternoon of Monday, April 20, 2015, saw Adewale beaten to a pulp and would have been set ablaze but for the intervention of the police officers who rescued him and whisked him away to an undiclosed hospital because he was transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State Police Command.
According to an eyewitness, the residents of the area decided to take the law into their hands when they suspected that Adewale, an indigene of Irewole, Osun State, was also an armed robber after two suspected robbers he carried on his motorcycle escaped when they were stopped by some residents.
"The people in the area believed that he was an armed robber. That was why he suffered a mob attack. They were three on the motorcycle and when residents tried to accost them, two of them escaped.
So, the people pounced on him and beat him up."

Speaking on the attack on him, Adewale had this to say:
"It was actually the two passengers that wanted to snatch my motorcycle. I later learnt they were cult boys. People who noticed later came around and started beating me up without an explanation.
I was mistaken for a robber. They attacked and abandoned me by the roadside. I am still in pains."
