Nigerian stand-up comedians and musicians may have earned up to N41M, from inauguration events in Lagos and Abuja on May 29, 2015. No official figures have been released, but Sources Online, working with available industry data have estimated – conservatively –  that the different agencies in charge of procuring entertainment services must have spent up to N41m. This cost does not include hiring of equipment and payments to traditional troupes. In Abuja where APC’s Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo were sworn in as president and Vice president respectively, performing artistes included Kwam1, P-Square, Faze, DJ Cuppy, Korede Bello, Akpororo and spoken word poet Titilope. Kwam 1 who is regarded as Nigeria’s foremost Fuji musician was the lead performer at the event.

Kwam 1 (N7M/Show) :- who charges up to N7 million for political engagements was on stage with his full band. The 54 year old musician is an official APC musician with dozens of campaign albums to his name.

P-Square: Pop duo, Paul and Peter Okoye ‘P-Square’ (12 Million Per Show) :- whose average performance fee is not less than 12 million naira performed as well. The duo thrilled with their hit song ‘E No Easy’ before leaving for another show immediately after their performance.

Faze: (N2Million Pershow) The ex-plantashun boiz star was on stage for a possible performance fee of 2million naira as well. Promoters confirmed that his billing can be as low as N1m, but recent engagements have been as decent as N2m and above.

Titilope Sonuga: Is an internationally renowned spoken word poet whose craft has taken her to place like Cape Town, New York, California, Edmonton, Toronto to mention  a few. Her amazing delivery left everyone in awe at the Inauguration in Abuja. At the time of filing this report, we could not confirm her performance fee.

Dj Cuppy: (N3Million Per Show) :- She’s the pretty daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola. Cuppy was the official DJ at the inauguration Gala that held at night and even though she was criticised online for delivering a lacklustre performance, she may have smiled home with up to 3million naira. Pundits say two extremes are possible in her case: total pro bono performance because her reps may have lobbied to get her on board; or over compensation because of her father’s influence.

Korede Bello (N2Million Per show): Rising Mavin act, Korede Bello took his smash hit song ‘Godwin’ to the presidential gala and quite an amazing performance he had. The Don Jazzy protégé charges an average of 2million naira per gig, less all third party costs.

Akpororo: (N1Million Per Show) Nigerian comedian Akpororo was hugely criticised for delivering a drab performance. After the event and the bashing that followed, Akpororo told an Online Magazine ‘I don’t want anybody to like what happened, but I like my bank account balance’. He charges around 1m to 1..5million naira.

Ushers: As revealed by Hon Abike Dabiri, a budget of 2million naira was spent of getting ushers for the Inauguration. In Lagos, the entertainment didn’t suffer.
Comedians Gbenga Adeyinka and Tee A anchored the show, while pro APC acts Olamide, Dammy Krane and M.I Abaga performed.

Gbenga Adeyinka: (N2 Milion Per Show) One of the anchors for the inaugural gala night in Lagos is Comedian Gbenga Adeyinka. For political events, we’re told he asks for nothing less than 2million naira.

Tee A: (N1.5 Million Per Show) Like his colleague and co-host, Tee A does an average of 2million for such events as well. Jimmy Jatt: Veteran disc jockey, Jimmy Amu performed at the official inauguration ceremony. He charges 1.5million naira.

Olamide: (N5Million Per Show) YBNL boss, Olamide, a staunch pro APC act who has recorded several campaign songs for APC was on hand to perform at Ambode’s inaugural dinner. The rapper charges an average of 5million naira.

ShugaBand: (N2Million Per Show) The Akin Tofowomo-led band is the preferred supplier of live music for most state events. And we’re told he pockets nothing less than N2M per outing. One insider tells us ‘he may have received more’ from the Lagos outing.

DammyKrane: (N1 Million Per Show) :- Like Akpororo, it wasn’t a brilliant outing for the young singer. But we’re told he was paid in full. How much? ‘N1m plus’, as one insider close to the event organisers CPMS puts it....
