Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has banned all forms of street protests in the state, condemning the street protests by the Indigenous People of Biafra which have crippled commercial activities in the state. The governor declared :
Quote
"let no one be in doubt of the resolve of the Rivers State Government and the security agencies to maintain law and order at all cost within the State and preserve the unity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria." In a state-wide broadcast on Tuesday night, Governor Wike decried the movement of protesters from neighbouring States into Rivers State, noting that they have inflicted injuries on other citizens going about their lawful businesses.
He said: "Majority of these individuals have come from neighbouring States and in the course of these protests, disrupted social and economic activities, damaged properties, assaulted and inflicted injuries on other citizens going about their lawful endeavours." "While individuals and groups are free to exercise their freedom of expression, they must do so peacefully and strictly within the bounds of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. No individual or group has the right, whatsoever, to disturb public peace and order, threaten the safety of the public and create fear and an atmosphere of insecurity in the State or any part thereof."
"The right of any group of persons to agitate for their perceived rights cannot be allowed to infringed on the rights of other Nigerians, especially the people of Rivers State to remain an integral component of the Federal Republic of Nigeria." Banning all forms of street protests, Governor Wike : "Consequently, after due consultations with the members of the State Security Council, and in exercise of my constitutional responsibility to preserve the safety, security and corporate integrity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it is hereby ordered that all forms of street protests, demonstrations, rallies or unlawful gatherings associated with the agitations for the secession of any group from the Federal Republic of Nigeria are banned in Rivers State.
" Any person or group who violates this ban or acts in any manner prejudicial to the interest of peace and security would be arrested and prosecuted. "
The governor commended security agencies for their mature handling of the the protests so far, urging them to continue to work in the right direction.

Mr Wike, they are coming to Rivers because of your oil. They need your resources to sustain themselves if they break away. If the Niger-delta will not join their course, they will beg to stay with Nigeria. In addition to them taking the Niger-delta with them, they'll also prefer your states to be subservient to their Igbo land. Now that you've clear the air, they will need to do more to take your state from you.

Mr Wike, are being double tongued now? U said u are not against peaceful protests, at the same time u are banning any protest, demonstration or gathering with regards to agitation for self rule. Grow up, face reality and embrace the course that paved way to become a governor today. We know u are sold out to APC and PMB, but this is not personal and it's not politically and constitutionally correct to stop civil protest in a democratic society. Send your security agents out there to make sure no crisis erupts from the protests, but call off the ban before u regret it - State may pass a vote of no confidence on you, then impeach u thereon.

You can keep living in self denier but the truth remains that we are both victim of the region we came out from, in as much as i do not support the break up of Nigeria, an Hausa fulani man doesn't know the different between igbo and so called niger delta they see all of us the same, that's why Jonathan lost his second time bid. As for some part of Rivers state and Delta state claiming not to be igbo, it surprises me all the time, you bear igbo name, speak igbo language not minding the different dialect, and equally share the same culture, i just don't know why you are different from me. All the same i pray for our dear country to remain one and in peace so we can reap the fruit of our labour and enjoy our life for the little time we sojourn on this sinful earth.

Nothing is for ever. The Igbo are being oppressed in Nigeria at this time. However, there is a threshold or limitations to which you can subject a person. When the time comes, the South of Nigeria, especially the SS and the SS Igbo shall sing a different song. The Igbo don't depend on oil to survive. Botswana is a landlocked country with no oil, yet it economy and citizens are doing better than the so called Giant of Africa. God bless Ndigbo. God bless the Republic of Biafra.
