In a statement in Onitsha, Anambra State, yesterday, Campaign for Democracy (CD) South East Zone, called for the immediate release of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, the Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisah Metuh and the former National Security Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
The human rights group also expressed concern that Buhari had formed the habit of cracking down on Igbo leaders at any slight provocation. The statement released by its chairman in the zone, Dede A. Uzor, the group recalled that Kanu was arrested on October 17, 2015 and a court of competent jurisdiction granted him bail, yet Buhari refused to release him, just as he also refused to obey the court order which granted Dasuki bail to travel abroad for his medical check-up.
According to the statement, up till date, the duo are still languishing in the dungeons of the Department of Security Services, DSS, adding that Tuesday’s arrest of Metuh was viewed as a clandestine move to silence opposition. The statement, therefore, gave President Buhari a 7-day ultimatum within which to release the above named individuals from detention or else it would mobilize more than 70 million Ndigbo, both home and in the Diaspora, to carry out a mass protest against their continued detention.
It noted that it was not against arresting any corrupt public officers, but reminded Buhari of the need to obey the sanctity of court orders or rulings, which he swore to uphold, adding that it was very dangerous when such leaders like Buhari disobey court orders. "Buhari should tell us how many All Progressives Congress (APC) members he has arrested for corrupt practices or does it mean that APC members are all clean, including the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, who allegedly spent over $16 billion on power sector reform without anything to show for it?."

Nice points bro.. especially the last sentence.
Human Rights can now talk? All bcos they seek relevance.  Where is our sense of morals?
Several thousands were killed and maimed, our soldiers ridiculed and overall safety of Nigerians was seriously affected by Dasuki's actions and inactions.
Where were human rights pple then?
And some fools still have sympathy for those crooks and country breakers.. So sad..

YOU DO NOT ORDER A HEAD OF STATE TO RELEASE DETAINEES JUST LIKE THAT. YOU WOULDN'T HAVE SAID THIS IF THIS WAS A MILITARY JUNTA, WOULD YOU?

YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THESE CASES INDIVIDUALLY. KANU'S CASE IS QUIET UNDERSTOOD. THERE IS EVERY LOGICAL REASON TO RELEASE HIM BECAUSE HE IS A FREEDOM FIGHTER, FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHT OF INDEPENDENCE OF HIS PEOPLE WHO ARE FACING HUGE INHUMANE TREATMENTS, CONTINUOUS MARGINALIZATION.

DASUKI AND METUH ARE BOTH DETAINED FOR MASSIVE CORRUPTION CASES. LET'S GET THESE FACTS CLEAR WITHOUT SENTIMENTS. BUHARI IS ONE MAN WHO DOES NOT TOLERATE CORRUPTION. CORRUPTION DESTROYS A NATION AND IT'S PEOPLE.

It is not Buhari that is detaining these people,...there are federal courts orders that permitted the EFCC/DSS to continue their detention.
people should learn to understand how the (judicial) various court system works.
one judge can grant you bail....while another judge(on a higher court) can order you detained the same day ,but on a different allegation in the case.

Story. A section of human right not all of them means its one sided. Dasuki is not from south east o Mr human right. Now Dasuki case is serious and very special. As for Metuh, I don't believe d story of wat he is been accused of. And dis govt shld learn to accommodate opposition. Dis country can never be one party state. Dat means its dictatorship not democracy. And as for dat monkey waiting for my comment, I have commented so bring it on.

I tell all of you supporting Buhari lawlessness, that when it will involve one of your persons, surely you will then cry for the rule of law.

I can't Imagine an elected president disobeying court orders and some daft are happy about it.

To give corruption a good fight in a democratic system, you must build good evidence against the accused and not by propaganda and also using Federal institutions recklessly.

Normally in eyes of the law,  even if you are got and your lawyer is able to prove innocent, then you are free.

That is why we have lawyers.
