The national leader of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) and former Lagos State
governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
yesterday described the late Olubadan of
Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1 as a
disciplined, forthright leader with a sound sense of judgment on issues. The APC chieftain said that unlike some Obas
in the country who were known for unsavoury
behavior, the late Olubadan was forthright, a
reason his entourage considered it imperative
to pay the condolence visit. Tinubu was accompanied by the Oyo state
governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Chief Bisi
Akande (former national chairman of APC)
and the state chairman of APC, Chief Akin
Oke, Tayo Akinyelure. The entourage was received by the Odulana
family led by the scion, Professor Allan Femi
Odulana and the widow Olori Moriyike Lana, as
well as the Olubadan-in-Council led by the
Otun Olubadan of Ibadan High Chief Lekan
Balogun. “Baba did not put us to shame. . He was
downright honest in his judgment on issues.
You will remembet that because our governor,
Ajimobi changed the face of Oyo from
dirtiness to cleanliness, our Baba conferred
him with the title of “Atunluse of Ibadanland”. This development has prevented the spread of
Lassa fever in the state. Baba left the state in
progress. I pray the progress is not retarded”,
Tinubu said. Also, Akande in his brief remarks extolled the
virtues of the late Olubadan, describing him as
an astute politician and ex-parliamentarian,
whose reign was peaceful while the state was
cleaner. Responding on behalf of the Olubadan-in-
Council, High Chief Lekan Balogun thanked
Asiwaju and his entourage for the gesture of
commiserating with the late Oba’s family. Meanhile the the Speaker of Osun State
House of Assembly Hon. Najeem Salaam has
condoled with the people and government of
Oyo State over the demise of the monarch. The Assembly stated that the passing away of
the monarch was a great loss to the Yoruba
nation. In a statement signed by by the chairman,
house committee on information and strategy,
Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the assembly
said though, the monarch was ripe in age, his
contribution to Yoruba nation, impact and
positive influence in the country will be greatly missed
