Some members of the Ekiti state House of Assembly have raised alarm over an impeachment plot and revealed that they were offered $1 million to remove Governor Ayodele Fayose.
Vanguard reports that the lawmakers vowed not to collaborate with anyone who wants to truncate Fayose’s government.
Briefing journalists on Tuesday, March 8, Gboyega Aribisogan, the chairman of the House Committee on Information, revealed that some men of the Department of State Service (DSS) from Abuja were involved in the sinister plot.

However, Aribisogan stressed that the lawmakers were ready to spend the rest of their tenure in DSS cell instead of joining people who are plotting to political instability in Ekiti state.
“In the last four days, eight of our members had been visited by some men, who claimed to be officials of the DSS.
“Our members were told that their names were among those to be arrested and they must ‘cooperate’ if they do not want their bank accounts frozen and be kept in DSS detention indefinitely,” Aribisogan said.
The lawmakers noted that the 2006 experience, in which members in Ekiti state House of Assembly were detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and made to sign impeachment of Fayose on the table of the EFCC boss would never be repeated in the state.
