Curtis Ugbo, a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, was on Thursday arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate Court sitting in Benin, for illegal gun possession and an anti-government publication he posted on the internet.
Ugbo, 47, allegedly committed the offence on April 12, at 2B, Ugbor Road, Benin.
The alleged publication which was read in the Court, said: “What is wrong with my boss, the ground breaking of Edo State own cement industry in partnership with private company under government public partnership and stakeholders, no State House member or Speaker and National Assembly member present.”
According to the prosecutor, Sylvester Omor, an ASP, the said statement was targeted at the Edo State government and is capable of disturbing public peace. Omor, also told the court that the accused unlawfully had in his possession, a double barrel gun without a valid licence to cover it.

The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge. The presiding magistrate, Mrs. C.A. Nwoha, who granted the accused person bail in sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum who must have a landed property She then adjourned the case till April 26, for hearing.

for the so called publication about the Governor, he did not commit any crime. he only asked a question and it is not a crimeto ask any question. if i ask the Governor '' are you mad?" ...by law, it is not a crime. all he has to do is say yes or no. that same Governor told someone to go and die. did he go to court for that?

APC Government filled with touts. They just arrest this man because he voice coecern over what is purely an act of impunity. If he had supported what they did nobody would ´ve noticed that he has a gun. All i know about present Nigeria is, if you need a job, criticise the past administration but if you happen to criticise the present administration of APC the EFCC will show at your door step.
