The Federal Government has banned the importation of vehicles into the country through its land borders.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Wale Adeniyi, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Lagos.
According to the statement, the prohibition order covers all new and used vehicles.

The statement reads: “The ban is sequel to a Presidential directive restricting all vehicle imports to Nigerian seaports only.

“The order takes effect from January 1, 2017.
“The restriction on importation of vehicles follows that of rice, whose imports have been banned through the land borders since April 2016.

“Importers of vehicles through the land borders are requested to utilise the grace period up till December 31, 2016 to clear their vehicle imports landed in neighbouring ports.”

FG is NOT BANNING imported cars from coming into the country. Rather want IMPORTED CARS to come in through SEA...........LET US GET IT CLEARLY.
IMPORTED VEHICLE ARE ALLOW BUT ONLY THROUGH SEA..........They came in through sea to other countries too.

THE IMPORT DUTY can be paid here since the cars are being used by Nigerian in order to generate and optimize revenue in the country which can be used for infrastructural development.

Why should other countries boost their revenue from the import duties while the cars were being used by Nigerian?

I THINK IT IS A GOOD STEP AND DECISION BY FG LOOKING AT IT IN THIS WAY.
