Controversy and mixed reactions has trailed the outspoken Minister of Youth & Sports, Solomon Dalung, after his controversial comments on Nigeria's Super Falcons.
While speaking to state house correspondents in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, stated that the reason the Super Falcons who recently won the African Women Cup of Nations have not been paid their allowances is because they were not expected to win the competition.

Quote
"Don’t forget that nobody even knew the team would emerge victorious. If we were confident they would emerge victorious, all the federation would have done is to plan for process of participation and entitlement.

"And when they win, it’s already established in sports tradition that when you win, this is what you’re entitled to. The situation is highly unfortunate and I don’t like it, these girls have given confidence to women who want to embrace sports. So, this will go a long way in killing this laudable achievement. It’s unfortunate, but we’ll make sure the right thing is done,"
he said

Just like we all expected, Nigerians took to social media and blasted the minister him for making such statement. Below are comments we culled from twitter;

mr minister has been serving the nation in various capacities for a while

Biography of Solomon Dalung, Minister of Youth and Sports Posted By Nigerian Biography Solomon Dalung, was born on September 26, 1964. He is an indigene of Plateau State in Nigeria. He had his primary school education at Local Education Authority Primary School Sabon Gida town in Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State from 1971 to 1977. He then proceeded for his Secondary Education at Government College Keffi, presently in Nassarawa State, where he obtained his West Africa School Certificate.
In 1982, Solomon Dalung got a job with the Nigerian Prisons Service as a Prison Assistant. He rose through the ranks to become Assistant Inspector of Prisons. While a staff of the Nigerian Prisons Service, he enrolled to study Law at the University of Jos in 1991. He thereafter graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law in the year 2000. He immediately proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja, and was later called to the Nigerian Bar in 2001.
 As a lawyer, he was transferred to the Legal Department at the Prisons Headquarters Abuja, where he served as Legal Officer II in the prisons headquarters prior to retirement. He thereafter had the opportunity of working as a Personal Assistant to Chief Solomon Lar; who was appointed as Adviser Emeritus to President Olusegun Obasanjo until 2003. In 2004, he took up an appointment with the Faculty of Law in the University of Jos as a lecturer. In 2005, he went further to obtain a postgraduate degree in law which he concluded in 2007. Solomon Dalung became the Chairman of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State from 2007 to May 2008. While serving as the Chairman of Langtang South, he also served as the Plateau State Deputy Chairman and later Chairman of the Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGON).
He was also a Member of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF)and President Buhari’s Transitional Commitee . He sought to represent Langtang North and South at the National Assembly but could not get the peoples’ mandate. It is however worthy to note that in Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State, Solomon Dalung is referred to as “the man who brought coloured roofing sheets,”due to his massive transformation of public facilities during his tenure as Chairman. According to Solomon Dalung, “governance is a social responsibility and a democratic leader is equivalent to a human god, having the responsibility to determine the destiny of fellow human beings.
 He did not acquire power by conquest, strength or might but either by charisma, bureaucracy or law. There is an instrument that confers that power on him and is expected to exercise it within the parameter of the enabling authority”. In October, 2015, he was appointed the Minister of Youths and Sports by the President Buhari Led Administration.
