The JIgawa State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Muhammad Sabitu for allegedly killing a 65-year-old woman with a hoe in Taura Local Government Area of the state.
Addressing newsmen, on Tuesday in Dutse, the state capital, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Jinjiri Abdu said the suspect allegedly attacked the victim identified as Baba Uwa while working on her farm.
Following his arrest, Abdu quoted the 25-year-old as saying the victim seized farms of people in the area.
Abdu said, “On April 8, we received a report that one Muhammad Sabitu allegedly attacked one Baba Uwa with machete while she was working in her farm.

“Upon receipt of the report, our men immediately arrived at the scene where they found the victim unconscious.
“But unfortunately she died while being taken to General Hospital Ringim due to injuries she sustained.”

Abdu disclosed that the remains of the deceased have been handed over to her family for burial, adding that investigation into the case had commenced.
He said upon completion of investigation, the 29-year-old would be charged to court.
