A woman of easy virtue in Lagos has stabbed a man, who came to patronize her neighbour in an hotel, to death. Nkechi Okafor, known in the hotel as Hope, claimed she committed the act after Samuel refused to obey her order to stop knocking on her neighbour’s door in Nice Time Hotel, Ipaja area of the metropolis. Okafor alleged that her neighbour, who is also a harlot, was inside her room with another man and she did not want Samuel to disturb them as the man may have been having sex with her.
She claimed that Samuel who was desperate to see her neighbour slapped her and also gave her a blow. The 26-year-old call girl said she broke the soft drink bottle she was holding and stabbed her attacker with it.
She also disclosed that the victim ran to his girlfriend’s restaurant near the hotel to inform boys who came to attack her in her room. She said they beat her inside her hotel room, made away with her handset and destroyed her property.
According to her, she never knew that the bottle would kill Samuel as she only stabbed him on the hand close to the chest region. Samuel, she said, later died in a hospital and she was arrested by the police.
The suspect, who claimed she is a mother of one, being interrogated by the police at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.
Narrating how she joined the ignoble trade, she said a woman she identified simply as Evelyn came to her family in Imo State and promised to offer her a restaurant job in Lagos. Instead of the job Evelyn promised her, it turned out to be that of commercial sex.
She said she rejected the job at first, but Evelyn asked her to look for transport money that would take her back to her hometown. But as she had no other means of making money, she had to succumb to the dirty job of hawking herself.
According to her, she was making between N6, 000 and N7, 000 per day.
The first two months she worked in the hotel, she had to settle Evelyn with the money as her share for bringing her into the business.
“I wanted to travel back home to see my three years old daughter. I would have travelled the next day before the incident occurred. Oh, my God. So, I’m now a murderer. If I had known I would have allowed him to continue knocking. I would have forgiven him for all the beating he gave me,”
Weeping intermittently, the suspect said she had murdered sleep, but begged that the police should forgive her as it was not her intention to stab the deceased. “After all, he was a customer and customers are always right.”
Lagos State police spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba, a Superintendent, said the suspect would soon be charged to court for alleged murder.
