Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has commenced the process for the establishment of a Real Madrid FC soccer academy in the state.

Wike on Monday met with officials of Interact Sports and Real Madrid Campus Experience in the presence of a Commissioner in the Rivers state government, Boma Iyaye.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Iyaye said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed and the location of the soccer academy will later be made known.

“This meeting is for us to work out modalities for the setting up of an academy that will be affiliated with Real Madrid Football Club.

“The academy will scout talents across the state and develop these talents”, he said.

Vice President of Interact Sports, simply referred to as Mr. Kazma said that the group was in the state to establish the Football Academy.

Kazma assured that the academy will be run in line with international standards to groom footballers who will be international mega-stars.

Am not 100% saying that this is wat we urgently need but it's part of wat d nation need, it would help talented people... Nigerians are funny sometimes, wen we see talent wasting we would say d govt is not doing anything about them, now that someone is trying to do something, we are still condemning him
